Based on emails received from homeowners, Las Vegas Lemonade would like for the Nevada Legislature to consider requesting a bill draft or an amendment of the following:

(1) The Nevada New Home Lemon Law.
A builder has 2 attempts to make repairs that seriously diminish the value of the home. If after 2 attempts to fix the problem, or 2 notifications by certified/return receipt mail, that such a problem exists, the builder cannot or will not make repairs the builder must:

Buy the home back at the market value or the original purchase price, whichever is greater. Or, replace the home with a similar home. It is the buyer's choice as to which option is implemented.

(2) Homeowners have a right to have a professional inspector present at inspections carried out by the Nevada State Contractors Board. Click here to read homeowners statements of support.

(3) Currently, homeowners have to put down a 50% deposit when hiring a contractor. This should be changed to a 10% deposit. Click here to read homeowners statements of support.

(4) It should be illegal for builders to tell homeowners to send in their work requests via an internet form when only requests by certified mail will stand up in court. Or internet work request forms should have a disclaimer explaining to homeowners that only certified mail will stand up in court. Click here to read homeowners statements of support.

(5) Nevada would benefit from adopting mold remediation standards as outlined in the IICRC S520 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Mold Remediation. Extra precautions should be taken when toxic mold is found to be present in buildings that house children under the age of 16 and/or senior citizens. **Homeowners submitting statements have agreed to communicate with Nevada Legislators via email or phone. If the homeowner agreed to receive email from legislators, the signature is highlighted and an email can be sent by clicking on the signature. If the homeowner preferred to communicate by phone, the phone number is typed under the signature.
